ALEXIS VASHONE

Born in Berlin Germany and raised between Chicago Illinois and San Antonio Texas, Alexis has gained an eclectic admiration for all sorts or genres of music. Her mother and father served in the Armed Forces, and this gave her the opportunity to travel and she was exposed to different art forms. She started her informal musical debut, but performing ‘Proud Mary’, by Tina Turner, in her mother’s kitchen. Her only audience…The Thanksgiving Turkey on the counter, and her wooden spoon as her microphone. She was six years old.
Since then, Alexis has studied music throughout high school winning numerous competitions in South Texas. With the influences, of Jill Scott, Lalah Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday (and female singer deemed a’diva’), Alexis has created her own unique sound.
She has worked on developing her own sound and flow since graduating from high school and moving on to college. When asked what does she want to obtain from the music industry, Alexis simply replied, ” I just want to be heard. I love music! its in my head all the time. I just want to share it with others that also love music. Im not concerned with fame and wealth that this craft brings, Im concerned with change, and happiness that music brings to people. End of story!”
‘Strut’ is Alexis’ first single completely written and produced by Alexis for Texas Based indie label, YKM Records. Performed frequently in San Antonio, “Strut” is the official ‘Runway/ Catwalk’ song for Designer, Teresa Barrow’s fashion line Esquisite Taste Of Art, Chicago Illinois.
