Introduction/Bio: Amanda Kind is a Canadian singer/songwriter that comes to us from British Columbia. Reading from her bio: Amanda Kind has a passion for the emotional songwriting, visceral lyrics and dynamic rhythms of artists like Kelly Clarkson, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morrisette, Sarah McLachlan and Joan Jett. Her new album “hello heartache” is the perfect sonic antidote to the love bug. This eclectic album blends elements of rock, R&B, folk, jazz, country and alternative all under a pop umbrella. The songs are a diverse mix of driving rock tunes and mysterious ballads with catchy hooks and tongue-in-cheek lyrics that appeal to Top-40 and alternative rock lovers alike.

Review: I have to say I was extremely impressed with the opening 3 tracks “What do You Want from Me”, “Hard to Resist” and “Distant Memory”. They made quite the impression and each one possessed my full unadulterated attention. To be honest: I expected cheesy Sing Songy Synth Pop that was extremely predictable and shallow in nature – very compatible for a mass audience. Well shame on me! What I discovered was actually quite the opposite. The whole CD is wonderfully conservative yet full of what I would call positive vocal energy with music that appeals to so many different senses on so many different levels. It reminds me of Natalie Imbriglia, Marisa Monte, Melanie C, and even Dido. I can also hear the slight Alternative Rock influence in there as well reminiscent of Kelly Clarkson, Fiona Apple and Alanis Morrisette. What I really like about Kind is there is no attempt to deliver what I call over the top pop. Cheezy music with a pretty face via top flight sampling, cookie cutter songwriting via a mix that sounds more like a commercial than a piece of music. This CD has all the trademarks of Pop Rock popular in the late nineties – bac when it sounded good. It will also appeal to both advanced and novice listeners alike. Whatever kind of listening level you’re on – some will identify with things while others will not. Like a three layered cake Kind is one artist that has allot of depth and has so much to offer. Weather it’s musically, lyrically, inspirationally, emotionally, spiritually – if you feel like music is taking us in the wrong direction than rest assured Amanda Kind is taking us back in the right direction with Hello Heartache.
