Brooklyn-Based Indie-Folk Duo Hearth Release Their Debut EP

BROOKLYN, NY, Release: April 24, 2020

Indie-folk band Hearth announces the release of their self-titled debut EP. The duo, comprised of Melanie Wiggins and Sara Horton, use their soulful lyrics and beautiful vocals to portray a journey of loss, hope, and healing. The record includes three brand new tracks, “Burnout”, “Want Me”, and “Angel”. The forthcoming EP is a follow-up to their debut single, “January”, and is set to be released on April 24, 2020.

Hearth recorded the EP with Riverland Collective, a homegrown music production house that is the brainchild of Joe Martinez of Martinez & Guthrie. Together, Hearth and Riverland Collective collaborated to hone and develop their singer/songwriter sound, fully bringing their songs to life.

Martinez worked with Steve Fallone, 2019 Grammy Award-winner with Kacey Musgraves for Best Album of the Year, to master the tracks. Of the music, Steve said, “I really enjoyed working on the tracks…I felt the songs, as well as the production and arrangements, were top-notch; some really great songwriting, with the production and mixes very refined as well.”

Like many young creatives, Wiggins and Horton came to New York to take a chance on their dreams – an exhilarating and disheartening experience that’s examined in the EP’s first track “Burnout”. After meeting as random roommates and instantly connecting, the pair combined Horton’s powerhouse voice and Wiggins’s poetic lyrics and began performing in venues across the city including Rockwood Music Hall and Bowery Electric.

“It’s so exciting to finally release this music into the world,” Wiggins said about the tracks. “They are songs that I have kept in my pocket for years, and it wasn’t until I found the right collaborator in Sara, someone who truly understood where I was coming from and the music I was trying to make, that I felt comfortable creating and recording this music.“

“The three songs included on the EP explore the fear and consequences of taking risks. They are about knowing what you want, but being afraid to go out and get it. But ultimately realizing that even if you fail, it’s better to at least try.”
