B*Witched Are Back With An Uplifting Cover Of Wilson Phillips Smash Hit ‘Hold On’

One of the best girl bands of the ’90s has returned to treat our ears to a heartfelt and uplifting cover of the Wilson Phillips smash hit, ‘Hold On’. This follows an incredibly successful comeback tour with The Big Reunion in 2012 and the critically acclaimed EP, ‘Champagne or Guinness’.

For those of you who need a reminder, B*Witched are twin sisters Edele & Keavy Lynch,
Lindsay Armaou and Sinead O’Carroll. Originally formed in 1997, the band had huge global success selling over 3 million albums worldwide and notching up four No. 1 UK hits with their first four singles, ‘C’est la Vie’, ‘Rollercoaster’, ‘To You, I Belong’ and ‘Blame It On The Weatherman’. But heartbreaking shock hit the nation when the band’s label dropped them suddenly in the height of their success.

However, the demand from the public couldn’t be more obvious, and in 2012, we finally got
what we were asking for. The Big Reunion, in which bands from a similar era, such as 5ive
and Atomic Kitten, reformed for the first time in over a decade and practiced together in
advance of a massively successful gig at Hammersmith Apollo, for which the tickets sold out in under five minutes. This demand led to a nation-wide arena tour, after which the public were still not satisfied, and so we saw sister Edele Lynch on our screens once again, first winning Celebrity Apprentice Ireland and then competing in Celebrity Big Brother in 2014.

After taking a few years out to pursue individual projects – musical or otherwise – the girls
returned with a wave of a wand, a puff of smoke and a new EP, Champagne or Guinness – a 6-track collection of brand-new songs penned and produced by the girls themselves,
cementing their position back in the industry where they belong. They have since been
enjoying their newfound international success and have been playing live and performing all over the world.

Now back again with their first track since the critically acclaimed Champagne or Guinness, B*Witched are taking no prisoners in their quest to bring pop positivity and dancing vibes to all who listen this Hallowe’en. These 90’s pop stars have taken their B*Witched, bothered and bewildered pop persona masks off for Halloween to reveal a message of authenticity and bravery with new single ‘Hold On’.

Accompanying clips from David Cowley’s film Aiysha, the song provides an uplifting and positive message to match this emotionally and romantically charged footage. Perfectly encapsulating the modern interpretation of witchcraft as feminist self-assurance and confidence, the footage concludes with a special message from the band themselves, encouraging anyone watching to “B* Brave, B* You, B* Loved. Love from, B* Witched.”

Singer Edele says, “B*brave: my bravery was facing the decision to become a single mum or stay in an unhealthy marriage… It was a bumpy ride but one I do not regret. B*loved: My
love has been falling in love with myself! Once I learned to love me, I realized I have more
love to give everyone else too! B*you: this is the biggest one and one I am still discovering, but every day I ask myself, who are you today… What’s your story?”

“We love the empowerment we get when we perform this song live… and how uplifting the
universal anthem ‘Hold On’ can be. It’s definitely a moment when we feel we are all in sync
with the crowd and fans. We love the relationship we have built on and off stage for over 20 years, and we have always been there for each other. Having friends that support you in the good and bad times just drives home how important it is to have people you love in your life… #lovewithnolabels.”

It’s clear that these girls aim to cast a love spell this Hallowe’en in the form of a bona fide rendition of the Wilson Phillips smash hit song, ‘Hold On’. We are all guilty of wearing masks whether that be to the world or to ourselves but, ultimately, the freedom of being true to yourself is life’s goal – and that is the message which this band aims to put across on this latest release.
