Canadian Musician Jonny Porter to Release New EP “Look Out”

“After his successful debut album release “Gravebird” in 2017 on Gypsy Soul/ Fontana Records, Jonny Porter continues his musical journey with a new independent EP release earmarked to hit the streets on September 29th of this year.”

For Immediate Release

Oakville, Ontario, Canada [09/29/20] Canadian rock musician Jonny Porter is back with his new EP “Look Out”, scheduled to hit the street on September 29th of this year. The upcoming EP is brimming with vigor and dynamite and ready to detonate upon the rock & blues music scene.

It’s been three years since Porter’s debut offering “Gravebird,” and according to his fans, this new record is long overdue. The music industry and fans in general anxiously await the release of Look Out. It’s coming soon and earmarked to hit the streets on September 29th.

There is no deficiency of meaningful lyrical content in this stellar new EP. Growing up in a stable environment, Porter played semi-professional Hockey and other sports. His well-balanced upbringing allowed him the ability to write about the positive aspects of life. Unfortunately, in his early twenties, Jonny had a bout with drug addiction and homelessness. Fortunately, in 2015 he got his act together and became thoroughly clean and has remained that way to this day.

Look Out was recorded at River 16 Recording Studio in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and mastered at WreckHouse Mastering in Toronto, ON, Canada, by Peter Letros.
All songs were written by Jonny Porter and produced by Jonny Porter and Steve Kirstein.
Steve Kirstein is no slouch in the music business. He is a Canadian music engineer who was born in South Africa. He graduated from the prestigious recording arts school Metalworks based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Steve has gone onto operate River 16 Studio in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. He has worked with members of the successful rock group The Glorious Sons and a hot up and coming band from Michigan Brothers Elsey, among many other outstanding musicians and bands.

Jonny’s music career spanned many bands. One of particular note – Staylefish. He played the VANS Warped Tour and traveled to numerous cities in the United States. While on tour, he shared the stage with NOFX, Emmure, Alexis On Fire, also opening in Canada for Down With Webster, the English Beat, Subb, Stomp Records All-Stars, and many more well-known bands.

While a member of Staylefish, Jonny, and the band went on to win Best World Group three years in a row at the London Ontario Music Awards in 2008, 2009, 2010. As the guitar player in indie metal group Dead Etiquette, Porter went on to tour Florida and make it to the final five in Ontario’s 97.7 HTZFM Rocksearch contest. The band received a month of mainstream radio play on 97.7 HTZ FM as well opening for Blackie Jacket (members of Finger Eleven), Econoline Crush, and Straight Reads the Line.

In 2016 Jonny Porter went out on his own as a solo artist and wrote and recorded his debut full-length album Gravebird. The record was released on Gypsy Soul Records in March of 2017. With Gravebird under his belt, Jonny went on to open for Rik Emmett of Triumph, John Wozniak of Marcy’s Playground, Todd Kerns bass player for Slash, and Five Alarm Funk.

Gravebird and it’s single also went on to chart in the Top 30 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Hamilton, Ontario, on the Canadian Earshot Radio Charts, as well entered the American College Muzooka Release Charts in the Top 500 releases of 2017.

Now in September of 2020, Jonny Porter is set to release his most energetic and powerful recording yet. Look Out is already receiving rave pre-release reviews and is expected to take the music scene by storm. Porter will be engaging in a Canadian College Radio Campaign headed by Indica Records and is also tracking CBC Radio 3 and Sirius Radio in mid Fall 2020. Look Out can be found at Amazon, iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, and any other digital distribution portal.
