The band DisasterTheory has been hard at work on their upcoming album “Destination Nowhere.” Frought with pandemic restrictions, the band is no stranger to delays and finding creative ways to accomplish this second album.
The track “Thread” marks the first official single release from the album and it’s already gaining momentum prior to it’s release. With over over 1000 new registrations in under and hour to get the track for free, DisasterTheory offered a free digital download of the tack in exchange for fans registering for their mobile announcements.
The song Thread is based on the mythological concept of the “Red String of Fate.” This concept losely outlines that soul mates are connected by an invisible red string that keeps them connected for eternity. Thread dives into the realm of when this connection is not always safe, positive or healthy.
When asked about the song and prepping for it’s release, frontman Mark Thomas said “Well ya know it’s one of those things in life that everyone wished they had, a soul mate. We never really think about the aspect of whether a soulmate is a good person or if we really want to be connected to that person for eternity. Based on fate, the universe just kind of picks the person and the idea is that we are emotionally and mentally stuck with that person, good or bad, for eternity. That’s not always a good thing.” Thomas said “Prepping for a release is always the same. One of the hardest things in the music industry as independent artists is to get people to actually pay attention and listen. If you can accomplish that, you’ re half way there. So we’ve tried to relate to fans on a very personal level and show them that our dark side has cookies and great music.”
