e. philly Announces Debut EP, “New Place”

Singer/songwriter/producer e. philly has announced his debut EP, New Place, to be released on August 28th, 2020. With the successful rollout of singles In Between and Dance Floor (feat. Taylor James), e. philly has been giving his rapidly growing listenership just a small glimpse into his skillful artistic range. e. philly’s collection of songs were written during a challenging season of his life where he found himself alone, broke, and practically homeless. Yet, after much determination against adversity, he was living an almost entirely different life one year later. That story is what led to New Place, which is what he now calls the newfound home he has worked to establish for himself and his family.
“Despite the subject matter, there is a sense of growing hopefulness that is formed by swells of synthesizers and acoustic guitar swirling throughout…” (Unheard Gems).
Songs such as In Between and Peace & Wired describe feelings of longing and loneliness, capturing important moments along the artist’s journey. A handful of voice memos and voicemails scattered throughout ground even the most ethereal moments back to reality. Tracks A Faded Memory and title track New Place bookend the EP, smartly tying in lyrical themes with one another to establish a sense of closure with the words, “Just smile in the darkness, I know someday we will shine.”
