Hi Gretchen! Great to have you here today!
Aloha! Thanks for having me!!
What do you see as the most important part of your journey as an artist?
The most important part of my journey has been to remain true to myself. I have never wanted to conform into something that I am not. And least of all be pigeonholed into just one thing or one label. I am a woman who wears many different hats, musically and in life in general.
How do you want your art to be remembered?
I want my art to be remembered as being real and authentic. That I am not trying to sound like anyone other than myself.
What milestone are you working towards in your career right now?
The milestone that I’m working towards is to go on tour with GRB, My own band (Gretchen Rhodes Band;)) Sooner than Later!
What is one thing you have had to learn the hard way?
There are many good and genuine people in the music biz but a lot are just in it for themselves.
What inspires you to work in this industry?
Music is life. Without music, my soul would shrivel up and die! (Not to be too dramatic;)
If you could pass along one message to your fan, what message would that be?
Use your voice. Stand strong and be yourself no matter what. You are good enough. You are worthy. You are confident and you need to love yourself.
What is the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
One day while on tour with Dave Mason and Steve Cropper I was writing lyrics. I asked Steve how he wrote songs and he said “ all you gotta remember is KISS…Keep It Simple Stupid”. I’ll never forget it! And of course, he’s absolutely right!!
Please tell our readers where they can follow you!
Thank you for your time!
