Exclusive Interview with Suitcase Souls

Tell us what this time has been like for you? Has it given you more time to focus on music or do you find it more difficult?

Though it’s a crazy and uncertain time for musicians, we are taking advantage of this new-found free time–we are literally working full-time on music! We are currently living with Kyle’s parents in FL, a half-hour drive from where we recently disembarked from a cruise ship on which we were performing as the acoustic duo. Typically our new “work week” consists of creating and scheduling new content on social media, studying courses on music marketing, and performing live virtual concerts for our fans. We feel blessed to have this unique time and space to focus on our music!

Share with us a little more about yourselves as a duo – how did this come to be?

Everyone always asks–if they don’t know already–if we are married. The answer is YES and that has a lot to do with our story! We met while studying music together in Memphis, TN, and though it took us a while to finally start talking, on our very first date we discussed what each of us wanted to do in life. When we found out we were both on the same page–that we wanted to write music, tour, AND have a family–we knew right away we had found someone with whom to share not just life but also a music career.

Have you written any new music this year – any plans to release anything?

BIG PLANS! We have released several singles digitally, all of which are from our upcoming debut LP which is going to be called (we haven’t told people this yet)

“The Love We Found”. We are very excited about our first-ever full-length album release! We hope that throughout each of the twelve songs on the record our listeners can see their own love story within ours. The album was recorded all over the world- Memphis, Nashville, and even in the middle of the Caribbean Sea!

What music are you listening to the most right now? Any particular artist?

Honestly we’ve been listening to a TON of music from the 60’s and 70’s in order to learn music for our recent contract. There’s a wealth of stellar music that we’ve never really sat down and listened to before from artists like Elton John, James Taylor, Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Hall & Oates, Dolly Parton, and The Beatles.

Tell us your favorite quarantine snack?

Kyle: Marci makes a MEAN sausage casserole. It might be one of the most unhealthy things you could possibly eat–the only ingredients are sausage, cream cheese, and crescent roll dough–but man… it’s stick-to-your-bones delicious.

Marci: I’m a sucker for sweets… late at night when we’re watching a show I have this crazy urge to put cookies in the oven. If I’ve also got a tall, cold glass of 2% milk then I’m in heaven.

Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Every Friday night at 7 PM CST/8 PM EST we do a live virtual concert series called Live On The Lanai! You can RSVP to the events on Facebook as well as follow us on Instagram @suitcasesouls to join us for the next one!
