FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Creative classical duo Jeremy Chan and Kristin Gornstein collaborate on EP featuring the music of Grieg, Mahler and Bolcom

New York, NY – Pianist Jeremy Chan announces the release of a new EP titled Still. Jeremy will release the EP on October 23 on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and all streaming platforms. He notes, “As a freelance pianist whose career up til now has mostly relied on live gigs, the cancellation of the 2020-21 concert season and being under quarantine inspired me to think of new ways to continue making music. Kristin and I recorded a set of songs at Oktaven Studios in September 2019 and, after floating the idea of releasing the tracks from that session as an album to her, decided to go ahead with the project.”

Recorded in a single session in September 2019, this album of romantic love songs invites listeners to sit and be ‘still’, as encapsulated in the final song, Blue, by William Bolcom:

“And now all I want to do, my heart, is sit real still with you”

Still is Kristin and Jeremy’s first studio collaboration after over five years of performing together as a duo. They met as fellows at the Tanglewood Music Festival in 2015 where they were asked to select songs for a set of William Bolcom’s cabaret songs to perform together, and have enjoyed an active performing relationship ever since. They are currently working on a second album of all-contemporary music, featuring music written specifically for each of them throughout their careers.

Though this year has brought its share of challenges, Jeremy has begun to use his artistry in new ways. “The quarantine experience has allowed me to reflect on the themes of these songs with a renewed appreciation”, says Jeremy. “I hope this album can be a kind of musical balm for listeners given this time of uncertainty.”
