Jonny Ong remains enigmatic in intriguing visual for ‘Fools’

Jonny Ong, the enigmatic man responsible for melding East and West in a wholly innovative revival of psychedelia, has just dropped the video for his latest track, ‘Fools’.

‘Fools’, coming hot on the heels of the success he garnered with ‘Isolation’, is an honest observation of the mistakes humankind are so prone to making. Rather than fill his music with “holier than thou” indictments, Ong pitches himself amongst the rest of us, chasing after the irretrievable, and counting himself amongst the fools he sings about.

This is reflected in the intriguing visual, linked below.

The video sees Ong following a woman who is always just out of his grasp. He is seen wandering through forests and city streets, constantly looking and longing but never achieving his goal, much like the rest of the ‘fools’, i.e. humans. He performs on his signature instrument, the handpan, in a hotel room – the transitional and transitory nature of the location playing into the ever-elusive themes of dreams and goals upon which this song meditates.
