Katie Kittermaster wows on Lucy Spraggan tour ahead of EP launch

Katie Kittermaster – the talented young songstress who has turned the heads of some of the biggest names in entertainment (Jools Holland, for one) – has just embarked upon a European-wide tour with X Factor sensation Lucy Spraggan. This is ahead of the release of her heartfelt and cozy debut EP, Coming Home at Dawn, set for release just in time for the colder months to soundtrack our lazy Sundays and cure our winter blues.

The EP is comprised of five songs straight from singer-songwriter heaven, and it’s clear from the offset that Kittermaster is truly a talent to watch.

EP opener, ‘Sunday Afternoon’, is the perfect ode to a happy, healthy relationship. Kittermaster sings of the pure and simple joy found in the little things; an afternoon on the sofa, cups of tea, the company of the one you love. It’s contentment put into music, endearingly asking for little and receiving it and so much more in abundance.

‘Kaleidoscope’ is Katie Kittermaster’s oldest track. Written at just 15, it speaks of the acceptance found when faced with the fact that a relationship will just not work out. It’s an impressive feat for a young woman to reach this emotional maturity; even more impressive that Katie was able to put it into words.

The closer of the EP is ‘T-Shirt’, a song already well known on the singer-songwriter circuits. It won Kittermaster both the Commonwealth Song of the Year and the UK Songwriting Contest within the same year, and also got Kittermaster to the final of the Lyricist of the Year awards as well. All well-deserved, as the song is a beautiful meditation on the futility of salvaging a broken relationship, an astute and honest portrayal of a situation we can all relate to.

I have a feeling that this bright young talent may become something of a mouthpiece for those of her age group, navigating the world of romance for the first time and looking for someone to model their behavior on, put their emotions into words. Who better than the impressive Katie Kittermaster, who is a star you definitely will need to keep your eye on.
