Kris James is back to prove you can’t keep a good man down.
Fresh off the back of his worldwide success with ‘Get Back to Love’, a song which saw him grace the face of a Billboard in Times Square, Kris James is back to prove that he has more than paid his dues and that all toxic relationships mean is that you get some really good songwriting material!
This is apparent in his upcoming release, ‘Naive’, a song about cutting toxic people out of your life, and the weight lifted that comes with it. Musically, it sees him taking cutting edge pop trends and turning them on their head, re-inventing the pop song with brass accompaniment and summer-y, breez-y vibes.
Kris James’ tale is that of a fierce musical talent finding his way to the light, a backwards journey from pop stardom towards authenticity as, in gearing up to his debut solo record, he found himself growing as a songwriter and performer. ‘Naive’ is the perfect song to tell this story. “Guess I was naive / didn’t spot the trouble / Now, hey, I’m fine on my own,” sings James with a self-assurance we should all aspire to, owning up to his past mistakes with a shrug, and no more than a fleeting backwards glance. The exuberant instrumentation and Kris’ ever-expressive vocal performance really highlights the newfound confidence and carefree attitude which Kris James is now sporting.
A song about overcoming adversity might be exactly what we need right now when stress and anxiety are rife in the world. ‘Naive’ is the perfect song to give you the confidence you need, as well as taking your mind off the current problems in the world with its carefree instrumentation.
‘Naive’ is released 5th June 2020, with Kris James’ debut solo album set to follow later this year!
