It’s a country song with rock influences, though there’s a little extra in there too. A couple of groovy bass lines are thrown into the mix for variety, and there’s a nice choir that pops in closer to the end.
While “Thin Blue Line” isn’t exactly the most complex tune in the world, it makes up for it in being exceptionally performed with some shimmering guitar riffs and powerful vocals from the man Matt Westin himself. It’s clear this is something he feels strongly about, and it unmistakably comes across with every line he bellows.
Matt Westin is undeniably a patriot, one who loves his country and his people, and it bleeds through in his lyrics. This personal touch is what gives the single its biggest draw, honestly showcasing how the singer feels about the crime fighters in his country and how much he looks up to them.

I don’t know how they go to work every day not knowing if they’ll come home. They see the ugliest corners of society, then come home to be moms and dads, husbands and wives. It’s truly incredible.”
It’s a sweet sentiment, which reflects on the song itself. Big, open chords ring out over every chorus, giving the song a larger than life feel that helps it stick out among the crowd. On top of that, it’s also just a great country song, even without all the sentiment attached, which is always a good thing.
“Thin Blue Line” is a fantastic song, one with an obvious mission and love put into it. Matt Westin does a great job getting all this across, and we can’t wait to see what he channels his energy into next.
