Emily Perry

Emily Perry

At just 19, this incredibly talented artist/composer/dancer powerhouse, has exploded onto the music scene. Set to be the next household name – not only here in the US but in her home country of Australia and even the UK where her music is creating a storm of interest.

In late 2016, Emily released her debut single, SUGARCOATED, a collaboration with talented Australian producer Alius. Sugarcoated, with a blaze of bold, vibrant sounds and exotic pop/electro blends reflected the confidence of an artist truly on the rise. Supported with a remix package, the song was played in clubs worldwide and received airplay in the US reaching #40 on the Mediabase Activator Chart.

Emily’s second single, BOOM, produced by 2011 Grammy Winners, the Jackie Boyz was released in late August 2017. With Emily’s unique tone, a hook that hangs around long after listening and a remix package led by 2016 Grammy Winner Dave Aude, Boom peaked at #9 on the Billboard Dance Chart and established a worldwide fan base for its young artist.

Her third single, WALK IN SILENCE, continued the buzz in industry and media after being debuted at the famous BB King’s in New York at the prestigious Pre-Grammy Soiree. Armed with an outstanding remix package, Walk In Silence headed straight to the Billboard Dance Chart peaking at #13.

Emily’s next single, SUMMER ON LOCK, supported with an international remix package, was released mid-2018 and peaked at #9 on the Billboard Dance Chart. The song “jumped the pond” and rose to #3 on the UK Commercial Pop Chart proving its international appeal. With a hook you simply can’t forget, a cool beat and dance moves to match, it was a red-hot summer hit and was the lead song for her debut tour, The Summer On Lock Tour which saw Emily performing across North America for the summer.

Emily has been invited to join the High School Nation Fall Festival Tour which will see her perform to more than 40,000 teenagers across North America over 5 weeks in October/November.

On a personal note, Emily has been singing and dancing from the time she could talk and walk, performing in her first concert at just four years old and she hasn’t stopped since. While her spare time was filled with dance, vocal and drama classes along with competitions and performances, it was acting which first presented itself professionally and Emily made a name for herself starring in various film and television projects. Emily spent her teenage years attending a Performing Arts High School in Australia, honing her triple threat skills in Los Angeles and completing a full-time professional dance course.

Emily now shares her time between the family home in Sydney and her new home in Los Angeles.

9OH1

9OH1

August 22, 2018 (Memphis, TN) – Release of 9OH1’s “Malibu”

9OH1, formed in 2017. New music blended perfectly with Pop, Hiphop and R&B; 9OH1 has performed multiple venues together and is finally releasing their first single. Malibu, released by South Camp Records, is hoped to be one of the most successful singles pushed. “I just can’t wait till people hear what they are capable of” says CEO of South Camp, Joel Robinson. Its blend of genres becomes more refreshing every time you rewind it. Joel says, “job well done!”

Press Reviews:

This smooth r&b tempo is one of my favorite genres to listen to. This is really great dance music with its lyrics not really focusing on important topics, but still enjoyable to listen to. The melody to the song is really captivating as well. The atmospherics, along with the melody is a great combination.

I like this song, I imagine myself as the audience having the time of my life with hear the lyrics and the artist’s voice in my head. The artist is talented with the sway of his words. I could tell this singer puts a lot into his work and should see him going places. 09-Aug-2018

The song is awesome, its very wavy i like the chorus its on point. I don’t think this track could be improved its perfect. I’ll definitely listen to this song every day this song definitely puts the listener in a good mood. this song will definitely work well in parties.
09-Aug-2018

The male rapper on this track voice is like no other performer I have ever heard. I like the upbeat sound and tempo of the instrumentals used on this song. the song is very creative production and lyrically. I also like the sexy sound of the male artist voice.
09-Aug-2018

This song has a relaxing and soothing element to it. It also has a funky melody which sounds quite quirky. The singer has vocals which you can easily focus on. They are very smooth and deep. This song has lots going on for it and i feel it is a hit.

Jeffrey Chan

Jeffrey Chan

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, singer/songwriter Jeffrey Chan was first drawn to music at a young age when he began taking classical piano lessons. Though it wasn’t until later where he discovered his passion for singing and songwriting; where he began to incorporate his piano skills into his love of contemporary pop music.

His debut album ‘Spectrum’ (released in July 2016) explores the multi-faceted nature of love and relationships against an electronic dance-driven sound scape. Called a “well put together and unequivocally pop/dance album” (Jamie Funk, Divide & Conquer), the album draws from influences from his contemporaries as well as incorporating elements of 80’s music and funk.

2017 marked Jeffrey’s first shows abroad, playing in both LA and New York at iconic venues such as The Bitter End. ‘Porsche’ feat rapper Skam ‘R Tist (released in November 2017), is the lead single from his upcoming sophomore record ‘FaultLine’, followed by ‘Breathe Heavy’, a retro tinged pop track as the second single; with the music video paying homage to pop culture from the 80’s-90’s. Both tracks saw success with media attention from several online publications and independent radio stations.

‘FaultLine’ is set to be Jeffrey’s most exciting release to date, collaborating with the likes of Julian Lowe (Sugababes, Janet Jackson, Robbie Williams), David Mohacsi (Three Days Grace, Hoobastank), any many more. With a scheduled release date of 31st August 2018, ‘FaultLine’ is an adventure into new sounds, themes, and visuals (with a music video for all 10 tracks set to be released upon roll out of the album).

SmoothBEATZ

SmoothBEATZ

Born and raised in St.Louis,MO was known as ‘Jay’, or better known as ‘Smooth’. This “Hit Maker”, was known for his complicated style of music that took off quickly in the St.Louis Local Scene. With the support of his SUPPORTERS and immediate “Teammates” ranging from his artists from imperfectARTS, his partners J-Pzy aka Kountry P (GoldenBricks Publishing) and KeKe Rivers (RBG) or from his better known squads Triple-A Amp Squad and earlier team with Joka and The Deck he has gained much notoriety as a Producer/Photographer/Actor/ overall Artist. He Later Linked Up with a fellow artist Rip James who welcomed him to co-host on his international Podcast known as “The RipJames Experience” (W-RJX RADIO) formally “RippedRadio” where he met Justin Kickett & Drique LockHead and became apart of the growing St.Louis Broadcasting and Entertainment market known as MCMM (MyCityMyMusic.com). While learning and growing into a professional his music has transformed into a Smooth, complicated, “easy on the ears” style of BEAT…a SmoothBEAT

Smooth was born in St.Louis Regional Hospital on June 17 to James and Carol Anderson. His parents refer to him as a blessing because of the 3 discouraging miscarriages endured before he was conceived and born healthy. At the time SmoothBEATZ’s parents lived on a street in St.Louis City names Palm St. Shortly after his birth, they moved to the “First Historic African American Town” of Kinloch. This would be where SmoothBEATZ first recalls hearing various genres of music for the frist time. Smooth was inspired to make music at a very young age by being exposed to mostly Blues and early R&B by his father James I Anderson; an older gentleman born in 1938 raised in a single parent household. While mingling in the neighborhood Smooth was introduced to rap. The 90’s sound was in style and the commercial music was what he liked.

Smooth got his name from his baseball coach the late Andy Ernst who would yell out “C’mon Smoothy! Show’em What You Got! as encouragement during games and the name stuck. Middle school concert band was his introduction to playing live instruments. He played Bass Drum/ Snare/ and Bells/ in the percussion section. High School was different; though he did he did not play in the band, he was still very much involved in music. Drawing and writing was his passion and with the assistance of his late friend Charles Hogan he was in his mind “Finally a REAL Producer”. Charles gifted him a copy of FL Studio 4. Smooth had been struggling to make custom beats to rap to, and was using the wrong program software to create. With his new tools he was off on his journey to create; in his words “FOREVER”. After the death of his friend/mentor Charles, Smooth was determined to never give up the dream that was shared.
In 2017 Smooth was awarded an Appreciation Award as an acknowledgment for his non-stop efforts to create a balance in the St.Louis music scene. Currently, SmoothBEATZ is getting to know his city’s local scene well while also trying to make a difference. He has been setting a different tone as far as relationships and just showing genuine love for the scene. ” I’m still a student, and LiVE LOVE is my Movement” he shares often. Let’s all continue to show love as we delve into his music and unearth #NewStyleBlues!

Karyn White “Gale & The Storm” Soundtrack Review by Edmund Barker

Karyn White, the R&B diva best known for late ‘80s hits like “Superwoman” and “Secret Rendezvous,” has been quite busy as of late. In addition to cowriting and starring in Gale & the Storm, an indie drama about the trials and tribulations of being in the music biz, she has contributed eight songs to the soundtrack. Anchored by the buoyant, bubbly single “Lame Excuses,” the film’s accompanying record is a real treat. White’s well-honed skills in R&B songcraft are in full display on the album, with a succession of superb grooves and beats starting with the first track “Where I Belong.” The previously-mentioned “Lame Excuses” is a wonderful piece of production, with a thick, twangy bassline and scatterings of synths giving it a ‘90s g-funk feel. The tune’s chilled-out flow and sense of melancholy reminded me of the likes of TLC’s “Waterfalls,” with a lyrical narrative about frustration with a lacking lover more similar to “No Scrubs.” The song is something of a slow jam, mellow and not too showy save for that excellent groove and White’s tender vocals being front and center. The tune that comes after that, “Hurricane,” gives strong competition to “Lame Excuses” for best song on the record. Funky and filled with hooks for days, “Hurricane” continues the album’s nods to classic disco-esque R&B to great effect. (Notably, the song isn’t all retro—a lyric talking about deleting a clingy ex on FaceBook gives things a modern resonance.)

“Love Quarantine” continues the album’s parade of toe-tapping tracks, with lyrics about, well, wanting to be quarantined from love. Songs that play with a literal version of the term “lovesick” certainly aren’t new, but this one is fresh and funny enough to work well, and benefits from another irresistible bassline. On that note, “I Am the Storm” (which draws from a similar lyrical vein as “Hurricane”) is another triumph of dance-y old school funk. A bewitching double-groove gives the song, which closes out the album, an incredible catchiness. For anyone nostalgic for the golden era of R&B and dance music’s cross-pollination in the ‘80s-‘90s, it’ll hit the spot.

Armonite: “And the Stars Above” Interview by Eileen Shapiro

“And the Stars Above” is the most recent release from the Italian duo Armonite, the courageous celebration of two classically trained musicians, Paolo Fosso and Jacopo Bigi, in their quest to transform traditional symphonic serious music into the coolest rock music on the planet. They have massively succeeded.

Composer Paolo Fosso writes the compositions and plays the keys while Jacopo Bigi plays both acoustic and electric violin. Although most of their songs have little or no vocals, their messages or themes engulfed in the songs manage to present themselves and evoke passion, excitement and vibrancy in a strange addictive way.

I shared some questions and answers with Paolo regarding the release and music in general. His music is sincere and heartfelt, as I’d his answers. It has been noted by those whom have reviewed the album that listening to his music is like being stuck inside a video game somewhere in the universe…..

What makes your music so powerful!?

We take a few snippets from the world and try to stuff them all in a box. But when the box is full and you keep on pushing more stuff, then the box blows up. And that’s our way to be powerful, I guess. [laughs]

If you could perform on stage with any artist in the world whom would it be and why?

That would be Plini, his musicality is even greater than his virtuosity.

Does the political climate of the world influence your compositions?

Undirectly, because we draw our inspiration from the world around us. Politics decides where our society is heading, political leaders know they can change the world for better or for worse. They should always remember every person has a soul, and no one deserve to be trampled on their rights.

What would you say to promote your music and evoke the fans to buy your newest release?

Instrumental rock for electric violin, keyboards, bass, and drums. No vocals, no guitars. Plus electronics, classical, and world music, topping of progressive metal and a pinch of pop culture. Isn’t that curious enough? [laughs]

“And the Stars Above” is a journey through 12 tracks, starting with “The March of the Stars” inspired by Dante’s Paradise and ending with “Ghosts”. The album also features two bonus tracks: a piece for piano solo, “The Fire Dancer”, and the String Quartet “A Playful Day”.

The sound of the album is more oriented to soundtrack music with textures that feel very immediate. We consume tons of music every day, we can’t just stick to one genre. Generally speaking, the album is rock, but with this idea of soundtrack music.

Any touring plans yet?

We’re going to tour with our show in September, playing originals from our albums and soundtrack covers in violin rock from the most popular movies and video games: Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Final Fantasy, and many others!

New single or video?

‘By heart’ includes a folk, medieval-flavored melody for acoustic/electric violin and ROLI Seaboard Rise with a strong electronic component, but no set pattern for bass and drums, which were recorded by Alberto Fiorani and Emiliano Cava. Cristina De Rosa choreographed and danced the entire track, she’s been a great partner to work with. We’re definitely happy with the final result, the video goes from a tranquil state over an opening heartbeat to a fusion of EDM and Trip-Hop.

Judy Cheeks

Judy Cheeks

Born in Miami, Florida, Cheeks is the daughter of gospel legend Rev. Julius Cheeks. Her first recording was a blues album entitled Judy Cheeks produced by Ike Turner in 1973. A tour with Ike & Tina Turner followed. Cheeks moved to Germany in 1977 and recorded a duet with Austrian singer Udo Jürgens. Their performance on The Rudi Carrell Show made Cheeks an overnight success in Europe. In 1978 she recorded “Mellow Lovin'” which became an international hit and reached #10 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. Her 1978 album Mellow Lovin’ was produced by Anthony Monn (best known for his work with gay icon Amanda Lear) in Giorgio Moroder’s Musicland Studios in Munich.

Cheeks appears as a backing vocalist for Stevie Wonder’s The Woman In Red 1984 soundtrack album, Donna Summer’s Once upon a Time and Rumor Has It albums, Thelma Houston and Jerry Butler’s Just Thelma & Jerry 1977 album, on Amanda Lear’s 1979 album Never Trust a Pretty Face and on Boney M.’s Ten Thousand Lightyears. In 1986, Cheeks worked as a studio musician (providing backing vocals) on Alphaville’s album Afternoons in Utopia.

Cheeks wrote for Jobette Music – Motown. The Jackson 5 recorded one of her songs on their last Motown LP. She did a lot of session work for several major artists while sharpening her song writing skills.

In 1983 Pete Bellotte produced her third alum Hard on The Heels Of Love. In 1988 she co-wrote and produced her solo album No Outsiders in 1987 featuring the singles I Still Love You and Just Another Lie.

In the 1990s, she had a string of pop and dance chart hits, including two #1s in 1995, “Respect” and “As Long As You’re Good to Me”, as well as “Reach”, which appeared on the Summer Hitmix 94 CD released by ZYX Records. A solo album, also titled Respect, was released in 1996.

In 2013 Cheeks wrote and co produced a solo album True Love is Free with the hit singles Happy and Without Love We’re Lost

It was on a European tour with Ike & Tina that Judy got an offer to stay. “A Black American girl coming to Europe had everyone thinking they’d discovered the next Donna Summer,” she laughs. “When we got to Munich, a lady from Ariola Records with a heavy German accent sauntered up and asked point blank, ‘Vaht do you dooo? Ve vant you here!’ So I went to Europe with $35 in my pocket and stayed with friends. They had an 8 year-old son. Helping him with his homework, I learned German. I also watched television with English subtitles. I had it in about a year but Europe didn’t know what to do with me either. They’d say, ‘Don’t sound so Black!’ There was a big singer named Udo Jurgens. We did the song “Ein Mal Wenn Du Gehts (One Day When You Leave)” where we sang the chorus in German, he did a verse in German and I wrote an answer verse in English. All of a sudden, I became a novelty star for being Black and speaking German! Then my producer at Ariola, Tony Monn, reluctantly cut a song on me titled ‘Mellow Lovin’ and it became a hit, too (thanks in part to a mighty Tom Moulton mix)!” “and the rest as they say is history”

In 2018 Judy Cheeks released a new single “Crying In The Rain”. A song written by Judy and Steve Lee, and first recorded by Randy Crawford as “When The Evening Comes”. Judy’s own version features her powerhouse vocals cherished by her fans. Also included in the release are two stunning remixes by producer Steve Lee and Simon Ellis, the S & S mix and Paleface Mix.

Now get ready to step into the Danger Zone with Judy Cheeks as she releases her new album, which features all the musical genres Judy has mastered over the years.
