LA INDIE BAND OYLS ANNOUNCES FULL-LENGTH ALBUM “FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION”
ALBUM COVER ART SALE PARTNERS WITH RECORDING ACADEMY CHARITY MUSICARES TO SUPPORT MUSICIANS IN NEED
October 16, 2020—Los Angeles, CA—”Profit-conscious” indie duo OYLS announced the band’s debut full-length album “For Your Consideration” including an album cover art sale initiative produced in partnership with the non-profit MusiCares. OYLS, who previously hit the Spotify viral charts at #5, will release “For Your Consideration” on October 16, 2020. Pre-save now at ffm.to/oyls
Alongside the album’s development, OYLS invented a new advertising opportunity for businesses and individuals by offering placement of logos and images on the album’s cover art for just $4.99 per square. The sale allows brands and fans to broadcast their message across distribution platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, SoundCloud and more, with a portion of the funds donated to MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charitable foundation supporting musicians in need.
“Our new initiative introduces a novel form of monetization, especially at a time when the coronavirus has dealt a heavy blow on traditional revenue streams for musicians,” OYLS said. “Our album ‘For Your Consideration’ is about our daily lives, our dependence on the products we love and our isolation in this world of consumerism, all of which lead to emotional challenges and financial insecurity. We want to help and we want you to be a part of it, too!”
“For Your Consideration” loosely tells the story of a depressed guy from LA who gets overwhelmed by his phone, sets it on fire and inadvertently starts a wildfire. The electronic alt-pop opera about post-dotcom living ends in a moment of clarity and human connection while on a call with Comcast tech support. The songs are each dedicated to corporations, including singles “Visa (Paid for My Parking Ticket),” “Instagram (You Remind Me I’m Worthy)” and “Netflix (Your Product is Too Good).”
Expect OYLS’ signature finger snaps, synth bongos, moody falsetto and dissonant beats coming together in a very warm, organic sound. Without using a single “real” instrument, the album explores themes of communal despair and the conflicted feelings that arise amid our relationships with products and technology from companies like Netflix, Comcast, Visa, Zoloft and more.
After a recording process that was interrupted by a wedding, real-life wildfires, a debilitating ear injury, a disappearing mastering engineer, a global pandemic and Chris Brown’s dog, “For Your Consideration” debuts October 16, 2020, with album cover art slots on sale now.
