This August, CT-based Full Blast Booking presents Tour for Life 22, an annual mental health and suicide prevention live music charity tour of the Northeast/New England. In its first year, (2021) Tour For Life raised over 11k for mental health charity and held a very successful series of events. The amount of awareness raised, love and support felt, vibes caught, and funds raised was really something to behold and epic to say the least.
Full Blast Booking owner Kenny Mercer partnered with Mental Health CT to present this tour in 2019, sometime after his friend Alex took his own life. He wanted to raise awareness on mental health management while providing people with a safe and supportive environment to seek help if needed, and thought a concert series was the perfect solution.
The tour will resemble a mental health fair and music festival with Mental Health CT and other nonprofit organizations on hand with booths, free promotional materials, activities and informational talks to the crowds. The tour will also feature multi-genre lineups of live music including major headliners Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan, Dizzy Wright, Rah Digga, Canibus, A-F-R-O, The Outsidaz and some of the best regional and local support in each city. The grand finale event in CT is at iconic Toad’s Place and features CT acts Duece Bug, Paranormal Adam, Crooked Mindz, Swank Mobb and many other CT based acts, local vendors, and a 2nd stage of CT-based bands and solo artists performing upstairs in Lilly’s Pad including Vicki F, Ghost Tones, Fear The Masses and more.
Full Blast Booking believes in this cause, especially within the genre of hip-hop, and feels it is necessary to educate the public on the normalcy of their mental health and treating it just as they would physical health. Tour For Life promotes “mental fitness” which includes day-to-day mental health management, and also provides resources available to those struggling with depression, anxiety or other mental health related issue. This tour will be the place to celebrate, love, support, and learn.
